School Discipline

The children and staff have developed the following code of conduct.

  • Treat others as you would like to be treated
  • Be polite
  • Look after things in school
  • Listen carefully
  • Do our best

Good discipline is essential for an effective learning environment in which teachers have a right to teach and pupils have a right to learn.

We expect children to behave in a responsible and acceptable manner and ask parents to support our efforts.

We promote good behaviour. Immediate praise is effective and pupils are rewarded at assemblies regularly with ‘star of the week’ certificates.

When behaviour is unacceptable, children are given opportunities to improve before sanctions are applied. Parents may be invited in to discuss the situation and a behaviour record may be kept for a specified time. Further action may be taken if required.

Positive behaviour is constantly encouraged, with Our Lord’s own words central to our behaviour code:

Treat others as you would wish to be treated.
